With an estimated body length of up to 13 meters and a weight of up to 1,135 kilograms, the extinct Titanoboa is the largest snake species in the history of the Earth. The only known species is Titanoboa cerrejonensis, whose remains have been found exclusively in the Cerrejón coal mine in the Departamento de La Guajira, Colombia, and can be assigned to the Paleocene era.
